Furniture Makers welcomes two new freemen
We were delighted to welcome two new freemen at a July admission ceremony.
The admission ceremony took place on Thursday 2 July at Furniture Makers’ Hall, London, and was presided over by Jessica Alexander, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company.
The new members are:
Fyn Duncan, fine furniture craftsman
Fyn Duncan is an emerging fine furniture craftsman with a passion for thoughtful design, traditional craftsmanship, and contemporary furniture making. He is currently studying for a BA (Hons) in Furniture Design and Making at Rycotewood, Oxford, where he continues to refine his skills and develop his creative practice.
Before progressing onto his degree, Fyn completed a Level 3 Diploma in Furniture Making at Rycotewood (2023-2025), building a strong foundation in precision woodworking, design development, and high-quality craftsmanship.
Fyn is the Lead for the Young Furniture Makers’ Society (January 2026–present), supporting and representing the next generation of makers within the industry. He is also soon to become a Youth Ambassador for ACID (Anti Copying in Design), championing originality, innovation, and the protection of creative ideas. He was a 2026 participant in the Company’s Young Professionals Industry Experience.

Rob Justice, sales director, SourceByNet Ltd
Rob Justice is an experienced furniture sourcing and development specialist with a wealth of knowledge across the global furniture industry. As sales director at SourceByNet Ltd, Rob is responsible for UK sales activity and operations, working with a business that designs, develops, manufactures, sources, and supplies furniture for some of the world’s leading home furnishing brands.
With expertise spanning retail, wholesale, and international sourcing, Rob operates across multiple areas of the furniture sector, bringing a broad understanding of the complete journey from concept and product development through to manufacture and delivery.
Combining commercial insight, global supply chain experience, and a passion for great furniture, Rob helps connect brands with innovative, high-quality products and sourcing solutions tailored for today’s market.
Fyn Duncan said: “As an aspiring designer maker, and lead for the Young Furniture Makers’ Society, I believe joining The Furniture Makers’ Company will allow me to help shape the future in how the industry supports young professionals. The Furniture Makers’ Company will also help me build my network on a much larger scale, which is invaluable as a solo maker.”
Jessica Alexander, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “We are delighted to welcome our new freemen. Each brings unique expertise and perspective, strengthening our community and supporting our mission within the furnishings industry.”
The Furniture Makers’ Company is one of the 114 City of London historic livery companies – professional associations that support their industries, charitable causes and the traditions of the City.
Membership of the Company is open to individuals and businesses working across the UK furniture and furnishing industry, offering opportunities to support its charitable work while taking part in networking, social and City livery events with a broad network of industry professionals.
Individuals initially join the Company as a freeman and may progress to become a liveryman, a full member of the organisation. The Furniture Makers’ Company also welcomes businesses to join as corporate members, with the option to appoint up to three employees as corporate liverymen.
