Our North East Region held its first event in September, bringing together professionals from the local furniture industry to network and learn more about the Company.

Around 15 people attended the Meet and Greet which took place on12 September from 6.00pm at Ouseburn Gardens in Newcastle.

John Conroy, chairman of the region, said a few words of thanks to the attendees, highlighting the importance of building a strong network within the North East. It was emphasised that having a close-knit community of furniture makers and related professionals can support growth, innovation, and mutual success.

Jessica Alexander, junior warden, followed up with a more detailed overview of The Furniture Makers’ Company, explaining our mission and the various ways people can get involved. She discussed our ongoing efforts to promote the industry and provided resources to those in attendance on how to become a member.

Kelly Hudson from McDaniels Law rounded off the talks with an informative explanation of what ACID (Anti Copying In Design) does and how it benefits creators by protecting intellectual property and promoting fair practices within the design industry.

The evening continued with networking and informal chats, allowing participants to share ideas and forge new connections. The event concluded around 8.00pm as guests gradually departed, leaving with fresh insights and strengthened ties within the furniture community.
