Calling all wannabe Cristiano Ronaldos, Zlatan Ibrahimovićs and Harry Kanes. The Furniture Makers’ Company, the furnishing industry’s charity, is looking for teams for its annual five-a-side football tournament, the Sealy Cup.

Now in its fifth year, the tournament is generously sponsored by bed brand Sealy and furniture trade magazine Cabinet Maker. This year’s event will take place at the Lucozade Powerleague Football Centre, Coventry on Sunday 2 July.

Kick-off is at 1.00pm and teams will be guaranteed a minimum of three matches before the elimination rounds. Every team will also get to play an eight-minute game against the Burnley FC’s Vintage Clarets, a team of ex-professional football players.

Dr Tony Smart MBE, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “The annual Sealy Cup has established itself as an enjoyable day for furnishing industry employees to take part in while raising vital funds and awareness of what the charity does.

“On behalf of The Furniture Makers’ Company, I would like to thank our main sponsor Sealy for their support, particularly for organising the Vintage Clarets to play at the tournament which makes the day extra special for the players, as well as our other sponsor Cabinet Maker magazine.”

Holly Housby, Sealy brand marketing manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to continue sponsoring the Sealy Cup. Not only is it a fantastic event raising funds for those in the industry but it’s also a great team building initiative and having been in attendance the last few years I’d encourage everyone to get involved for what is a really fun and rewarding day.”

The cost of entering a team of seven is £420 (including VAT) and a barbecue lunch is included.
