Waywood win Furniture Makers’ Prize at Celebration of Craftsmanship
Bespoke furniture maker collective Waywood were named winners of The Furniture Makers’ Company’s Design Prize during the Celebration of Craftsmanship & Design show (18 -27 August).
Waywood were awarded the prize for their Commemorative Display Table, which is based on petals and flower buds.

This year’s esteemed panel of judges for the award were Sean Feeney, James Ryan and Christopher Claxton-Stevens.
The judges gave commendations to Laurence Peacock for his Sika Table, Jason Heap for the Watul Mirror and Adrian McCurdy for the Carved Oanel.

Commenting on the winning piece, the judges said: “Waywood’s table is technically challenging and beautifully executed. It has a good organic form, with nice detailing – a tour de force.”
Waywood combines the varied skills of four craftsmen, with backgrounds and influences as diverse as fine art, green wood sculpture, pure cabinetmaking and design, boat building computer-aided design, and CAD/CAM manufacturing.

Waywood’s furniture has been gracing personal and public spaces — from offices to cathedrals and bedrooms to bars — for nearly 30 years.
Celebration of Craftsmanship & Design has become the largest selling exhibition of high quality bespoke furniture in the country and every year it draws visitors and exhibitors from around the world.
