Vital FIRA industry skills survey deadline extended
The Furniture Makers’ Company and FIRA, the Furniture Industry Research Association, are undertaking a major survey of the furniture sector to understand its current and future skills requirements.
Statistical and anecdotal evidence point to a recovery in fortunes for our industry but unless our training providers (from schools through to universities) produce individuals of the right calibre with applicable skills it will be impossible to develop and sustain this competitive advantage.
Charles Vernon, Past Master, The Furniture Makers’ Company and Chairman of our Education & Training Committee, and Peter Beele (FIRA) are asking the whole industry to take part in a survey so that skills gaps and training issues can be identified and actions put in place to resolve these issues.
Needless to say, a high response rate is essential and we are reliant on your knowledge and experience if we are to make a meaningful difference.
We understand that you may be suffering from survey fatigue. However, this is one survey that will make a real difference as its results will underpin the future success of all of our businesses.
Whilst individual responses will remain confidential, we will, of course, share the combined results with all participants, and thank you for your invaluable support.
