Tim Bloyce Memorial Cup returns this summer
The ‘Tim Bloyce Memorial Cup’, the thrilling five-a-side football tournament organised in aid of The Furniture Makers’ Company, returns this summer.
Now in its ninth year, the tournament is taking place at the Lucozade Powerleague Football Centre, Coventry on Sunday 2 July 2023 and the charity is looking forward to welcoming new and returning teams to the industry’s answer to the Champions League. The event is named after Tim Bloyce, a life-long football fan and former employee of event sponsor Ocee & Four Design, who sadly passed away from Motor Neurone Disease (MND) last year.
Kick off will be at 1.00pm with the tournament commencing with a group stage. Every team will be guaranteed a minimum of three matches. Mixed gender teams from offices, factories, showrooms or just groups of friends of all abilities are very welcome. The winners of the groups will then go forward to the elimination rounds. Once the action is over, the fun-packed day will finish with a BBQ buffet before the winning team is crowned in the prize giving.
Jonny Westbrooke, CEO of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “With the support and sponsorship of Ocee & Four Design, we are very excited that the Tim Bloyce Memorial Cup will return for what I’m sure will be a tremendous, action-packed day of competition. If you’re looking for a team building day, want to reward some of your employees, or you just want bragging rights over the rest of the industry, the Tim Bloyce Memorial Cup is perfect.”
Neil Clark, sales director at Ocee & Four Design, said: “Our much-loved colleague Tim Bloyce sadly lost his battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and passed away peacefully at home on 8 October 2022. We all share many happy memories of Tim and will always remember his humour and total commitment to everything he undertook.
“At Ocee & Four Design, we continue to work closely with The Furniture Makers’ Company, to support our industry charity and the people that work in the trade. We remain committed to supporting their fundraising efforts by highlighting one of Tim’s great passions, football, and renaming the annual charity five-a-side football tournament as the ‘Tim Bloyce Memorial Cup’ in his honour.”
The cost of entering a team of seven is £500 (+ VAT) and a barbecue lunch is included.
