The Furniture Makers’ Company Southern Committee held its third bowling night in High Wycombe for local industry employees, raising awareness of the Company and its charitable output, on Wednesday 17 October.

Forty-five people from the region, including workers from Ercol, Hypnos, William Hands and Verco, as well as Mark Wilkins from the Southern Committee and Trevor Stroud from Wycombe Wanderers played two games of 10-pin bowling at the Hollywood Bowl.

Steve Dutton of Ercol was the highest scorer of the evening, with a near-perfect game of 293, with the Ercol team also coming out on top in the competition.

We’d like to thank Ian Smart of the Southern Committee who organised the event.

The Verco team came third behind the two Ercol teams

Past Master Dr Tony Smart MBE, who was in attendance, said: “On behalf of Ian and I, I would like to say a big thank you to all who took part. It was a most enjoyable evening with employees of furniture makers in the High Wycombe area getting together to share in a competitive bowling evening, having a few glasses of beer and a good laugh.”

The Furniture Makers’ Company has six regional committees – the North East, North West, Yorkshire and Central, South West and Southern.
