The Step 2 It online challenge: Strava art
If you’re unable to organise a Step 2 It event, but still want to get involved, we will be setting a new online challenge every couple of months that solo competitors and virtual squads can tackle from home. All our challenges can be found on the Step 2 It campaign page.
This month’s challenge
Strava Art is a recent phenomenon where people use the free Strava app to create a picture by plotting the route of an activity, whether it be walking, running, cycling etc. Think of yourself as a human pencil and where you go the pencil follows. In July and August we want you to create your own picture and email your finished piece to us. If you make a donation to our charity, you will be entered into our competition where the Master will judge the best picture. The winner will get a bottle of champagne, kindly provided by our corporate member Martek.
So what are the steps to success…
Step one
Download the Strava app from the your smart phone’s application store. You will only need the free version to take part in this challenge.
Step two
Get acquainted with the Strava app. Drawing a route is as simple as opening the application, selecting ‘record’, hitting ‘start’ and moving, but it will take a bit of getting used to before you become a true pixel Picasso.
Step three
Search for a suitable area local to you that will give you the space you need to draw your work of art. Doing a bit of research using a maps application will help. The make-up of the area may even provide some inspiration as to what you end up drawing.
Step four
Once you have a drawing you are proud of, save and send it to Rachael@furnituremakers.org.uk. If you wish to be entered into the competition, we kindly ask you make a small donation and send us a screenshot confirming. The Master will judge the entries at the end of August.
