The Furniture Maker’s Company’s Southern Regional Committee is organising a Riverside Family Picnic that will encourage attendees to walk a stunning route along the River Thames before sitting down to enjoy a luxury picnic.

The event, which is being organised in aid of our Step 2 It campaign, is taking place on Friday 10 September at the Upper Thames Sailing Club, Bourne End.

The afternoon will start with guests selecting one of our suggested walking routes along the Thames, from a short stroll to a 10-mile trek. This is an opportunity for attendees to do their part for Step 2 It and ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor their steps along the route and raise money in aid of our charity.

Guests will then be asked to converge at the sailing club from 4.00pm for a fundraising picnic with live music and a complimentary welcome drink upon arrival.

Attendees can choose to bring their own picnic or pre-order a luxury picnic bag and then sit back for the evening and enjoy live music from Lorraine O’Reilly. There will be plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained on the day and lots of fundraising opportunities to take part in up until the event ends at 9:00pm.

Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite. The price of admission for adults will be £15, plus £20 if ordering a luxury picnic bag. The day will be free of charge for children but there will be a charge of £10 if ordering a kid’s luxury picnic bag.

Lizzie Shaw, chairman of the Southern Region, said: “Is there a better way to spend a September evening than a luxury picnic on a riverbank with a glass of something cold in hand listening to live music surrounded by friends and family?

“Join the Southern Region for a relaxed evening, this particular spot on the river is absolutely beautiful and in true Southern Region style the event promises to be one not to miss.

“All are welcome, bring the kids, bring the neighbours! Don’t worry if the weather isn’t great, we have full use of the club house, so a little rain won’t dampen our spirits.”
