Social media explored at second virtual Best Practice Day
The Furniture Makers’ Company held a second virtual edition of its Best Practice Day last month exploring how to leverage the power of social media for sales.
The webinar, which took place on Wednesday 25 November, was hosted by Peter Holland founder of Linear Consulting and Sara Pearce, founder of marketing consultancy Saffronpea.
Both presenters shared some powerful insights and practical tips to help delegates address current challenges posed by COVID-19 restrictions.
Peter explained that the rapidly changing sales environment has highlighted the need for a ‘social media selling process’. One with a clear strategy, objectives and activities that managers can implement with their teams consistently on a weekly basis.
Sara’s presentation focused on three key areas to leverage the power of social media for improved sales results:
- How to do the research to identify ideal prospective clients.
- How to effectively make connections.
- How to create new relationships and organise valuable meetings.
Sara also presented powerful tips to enable salespeople to spend a realistic 15 minutes on social media a day.
The Best Practice Days are free events that are open to all corporate members of The Furniture Makers’ Company as well as Manufacturing Guild Mark holders. Each event is designed to facilitate open innovation and shared learning among businesses.
Commenting on the session, Chris Dixon, regional sales manager at Herman Miller, said: “I though it built a good foundation of tips and practices across social media platforms to help engage customers and encourage them to work with us.”
Tammy Yeowell, senior merchandise and marketing assistant at Hunters Contracts, said: “I really enjoyed being part of the Best Practice Day live event. It was good to share ideas and we’ve actually made a change to one of our internal processes as a result. Thank you for letting me take part.”
