On Thursday 26 February the Master attended the homecoming parade of 160 soldiers from 2 Rifles at their barracks in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, following their recent return from duty in Kabul. 

Each soldier received their Afghanistan Operation Service Medals from their Deputy Colonel in Chief, The Earl of Wessex.

In addition the Master presented The Furniture Makers’ Company medal for Best Young Rifleman to Rifleman Vowles, who in his citation was commended for his “selfless commitment and courage”, and for becoming a “confident and totally dependable young leader”.
