One Step at a Time campaign launched to raise awareness of welfare support
The Furniture Makers’ Company has launched a new campaign, ‘One Step at a Time’, challenging companies in the furnishing sector to raise awareness of the charity’s welfare support so every industry colleague knows where to turn in times of financial need.
The campaign will ask companies to sign up as One Step Champions and commit to communicating the charity’s welfare provision among their employees.
On signing up, One Step Champions will be given a suite of tools to help promote the message, including a certificate of involvement, posters, flyers, case studies and social media content, and be kept up-to-date with news on how The Furniture Makers’ Company can support their employees.
The charity wants to sign up 100 companies as One Step Champions in the first year to start it on the road to ensuring all 338,000 people working in the wider industry, as well as retirees and former workers, know the charity can be a lifeline in hard times.
The initiative has been spearheaded by newly installed Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company Dids Macdonald OBE, who has made it her Master’s Challenge and focus for the year and beyond.
Dids Macdonald OBE, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “One Step at a Time’ isn’t about reinventing the wheel: it’s about reminding individuals and businesses that for more than a century The Furniture Makers’ Company has cared for the people who work and who have worked in the industry.
“I hope that, the campaign will gather momentum, year on year so that everyone in the industry will know about our welfare support, which is there for anything life throws at you, from a minor bump in the road to a major crisis.
“The hard fact of the matter is that the majority of people in the industry don’t even know our help exists. We want to help every single eligible family, but we need your help to make sure our welfare support is no longer the best kept secret in the industry.”
