New Designers 2017 showcases over 3,000 design graduates covering a breadth of design disciplines across two weeks, with Part 1 from 28 June – 01 July featuring textiles, jewellery, ceramics and contemporary crafts, and Part 2 from 05 – 08 July showcasing furniture and product design, illustration and motion arts.

Taking place at the Business Design Centre, London, a visit to the show provides a unique opportunity to commission, recruit, be inspired and buy directly from the future of British design. Supported by an insightful programme of talks and tours in collaboration with strongholds from the design industry including the Design Council, the Design Museum and Crafts Council, New Designers will be celebrating, to awakening and nurture creativity. With over 50 courses from across the UK gathered in the Furniture product and industrial design zone, this year’s crop of designers respond to social and lifestyle changes with the design and production of compact furniture. Through a reminiscent return to uniformity, brutalism also takes centre stage as one of the leading inspirations for young designers, with furniture makers combining usability with a thematic reflection of our times.

One Year On, a carefully curated showcase of the most exciting design talents in their first year of business, also returns to New Designers taking place across both weeks with its largest edition to date of 80 designers. Curator Rheanna Lingham highlights furniture made from distinctive 5,000 year-old bog oak as one of her top picks to look out for at the show.

Other highlights include Sustainable design with HAME by Lewis Macleod who pairs traditional handicraft with modern manufacturing technologies to create contemporary furniture and homeware, including a zero waste interior range.  All exhibited work is available to purchase or commission, enabling visitors to One Year On to buy directly from designers at the show.

Join the celebration of creativity, design and new thinking with the next generation of designers as they enter the UK’s flourishing creative industries with New Designers this summer.
