National Occupational Standards review – have your say
We are are urging businesses to have their say on the review of National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the furniture industry. Employer involvement will ensure the benchmark industry standards of performance and effective working keep pace with changing industry needs.
The National Occupational Standards (NOS) are developed by industry for industry. Each major industry in the UK has an organisation that researches and writes NOS using employers, associations and industry experts.
NOS describe best practice and NOS is used as the basis for occupational qualifications, and companies can freely use NOS to help design their in-house training, on-job coaching or performance management systems. The majority of reformed Apprenticeship Standards are also derived from NOS.
This is your chance to have your say, even if you feel the NOS are broadly fit for purpose your input is invaluable. We are carrying out consultation with employers, associates and industry experts across the UK in all four nations. This is your opportunity to review and, where required, revise/update the current NOS to reflect the needs of the industry.
Draft NOS:
- Finishing Furniture
- Upholstery and Soft Furnishings incorporating Bed Making
