The Sealy Cup – the furnishing industry’s answer to Russia 2018 – returns to Coventry this year and The Furniture Makers’ Company, a City of London livery company and the furnishing industry’s charity, is looking for teams to battle it out on the field.

Now in its sixth year, the five-a-side football tournament is generously sponsored by bed brand Sealy and trade magazine Cabinet Maker. This year’s event will take place at the Lucozade Powerleague Football Centre, Coventry on Sunday 1 July.

Kick-off is at 1.00pm and teams will be guaranteed a minimum of three matches before the elimination rounds. Every team will also get to play an eight-minute game against the Burnley FC’s Vintage Clarets, a team of ex-professional football players.

Neil Robinson, sales and marketing director for Sealy UK, said “We are delighted to be sponsoring the tournament for the sixth time and look forward to what promises to be the biggest number of teams to date. Indeed Sealy are entering a team ourselves this year, so we are hoping for any dubious penalty awards to go our way in true FIFA style.”

Hayden Davies, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “The annual Sealy Cup is a fantastic team building day or reward for employees across the furnishing industry. All abilities are welcome – just be prepared for a day of immense competition.

“I would like to thank our main sponsor Sealy for their support, particularly for organising the Vintage Clarets to play at the tournament which makes the day extra special for the players, as well as our other sponsor Cabinet Maker magazine.”

The cost of entering a team of seven is £420 (including VAT) and a barbecue lunch is included.
