Manufacturing Guild Mark holder launches new mattress collection
Somnus by corporate member and Manufacturing Guild Mark holder Harrison Spinks has developed its Legacy and Supremacy mattress collections. Exquisitely designed, both collections honour the heritage bedmaker’s sustainability commitments, circular by design ethos and are 100% recyclable at end of their lifetime and available through Somnus’ network of independent retailers.
All mattresses in both collections continue to bolster the company’s sustainability credentials and are upholstered with the finest home-grown, sustainable natural fillings including natural cotton, cashmere, hand-teased horsehair, tree silk cotton, British Eco wool and hemptex. At the heart of each mattress lies Somnus’ unique Sensa Intelligent Spring System made up of advanced Cortec™ Revolution core springs, with a unique spring-within-a-spring design, made without glue meaning that they can be fully recycled at the end of their lifetime. These springs adapt and contour to precision accuracy to provide superb support and luxurious comfort. Working in conjunction with Harrison Spinks’ Micro springs, each spring is encased in a 100% plant based bamboo blended fabric, a truly sustainable fibre that provides antibacterial, moisture wicking and insulating properties.
More luxurious models also feature a tied Cortec™ Revolution natural calico spring core offering enhanced responsive support. All mattresses are finished with an all-natural, super-soft feel, premium wool fabric that is 100% FR chemical treatment free and woven in house at the Harrison Spinks factory in Leeds.
A range of dual-sided mattress enhancers are also available. Designed to give your mattress an extra layer of luxury, handmade to order in any size and generously filled with the finest natural and sustainable fillings as well as Sensa Intelligent springs, they can be attached onto any Somnus mattress, providing greater comfort and softness.
Alongside the range of mattresses, Somnus has also introduced a range of 11 exclusive design led headboards and 21 exclusive fabrics and a digital mattress visualiser for consumers to view all the finishing touches available.
Nick Booth, Managing Director at Harrison Spinks, commented: “We’re continuing to change the way the world sleeps through our constant sustainable innovations and our two latest Somnus collections show just that through the use of natural and sustainable fillings, our Cortec™ Revolution springs and FR chemical treatment-free in-house woven tick.
“Following our pledge to go glue, foam and FR chemical treatment-free, we’ve now been able to move all Harrison Spinks and Somnus collections over to Cortec springs while committing to manufacturing all future products in the same way, so all mattresses can now be disassembled and recycled at the end of their lifetime, at our own UK recycling facility, resulting in zero going to landfill.”
The Legacy collection consists of three turn-free models and three pillowtop models, categorised into two, three and four rower models, and the Supremacy collection consists of 12 seasonal-turn models, categorised into two, three, four and six rower models.
These brand-new collections are being exhibited at The National Bed Federation’s 2021 Bed Show on September 21st and 22nd.
Harrison Spinks has developed a virtual showcase featuring its new Somnus Legacy and Supremacy ranges, available for retailers to access in the absence of showroom visits.
