Luxury outdoor furniture firm awarded the Manufacturing Guild Mark
Rivelin, a luxury outdoor furniture manufacturer that specialises in innovative gas fire tables, has been awarded the coveted Manufacturing Guild Mark from The Furniture Makers’ Company after successfully passing the rigorous independent audit.
Founded in 2014, Rivelin is a small UK manufacturer specialising in the design and production of readymade and bespoke outdoor gas fire tables.
Rivelin is currently the only outdoor furniture manufacturer that holds the Manufacturing Guild Mark and its recent application demonstrates the Mark’s growing reputation and significance across all trades in the wider furniture and furnishing industry.
The auditors were impressed by Rivelin’s firm dedication to new product development and innovation, specifically the design of its own gas burners that sit within the tables, which has been driven by the company’s small in-house design team.
Manufacturing Guild Mark chairman Ben Burbidge presented Robert Smith, director at Rivelin, with the Mark at a ceremony at the company’s facility in Rotherham, South Yorkshire on Thursday 28 June.
Sponsored by Lectra, the Manufacturing Guild Mark has been the mark of excellence, distinguishing Britain’s top furnishing manufacturers, since 1993. The Mark is awarded to companies that demonstrate high standards across all aspects of the business.
Manufacturing Guild Mark chairman Ben Burbidge said: “I would like to congratulate Rivelin for being awarded the Manufacturing Guild Mark and being an exemplar of the UK furnishing industry. We’re delighted to welcome a luxury outdoor furniture manufacturer to the increasing list of holders, which goes to show that the Mark is relevant across all sectors within the wider furnishing industry.
“Rivelin has shown a resolute commitment to innovation which has enabled the company to create a product solution that is unique in the marketplace. These qualities, amongst others, are exactly what distinguishes a Manufacturing Guild Mark holder from other companies.”
Robert Smith, director at Rivelin, said: “Rivelin is not only a proud British manufacturer, but proud to be based near Sheffield – a city with a long manufacturing history. Everything we make is made here in the UK and we design our own products and gas burners. The challenge in our sector is to combine beauty, performance and longevity in the very harsh outdoor environment. We believe we meet all three requirements and to be recognised as a company of distinction by an institution as prestigious as The Furniture Makers’ Company is wonderful.”
