The Furniture Makers’ Company’s North East Region held a successful seminar on Intellectual Property (IP) last month.

The seminar was held on Wednesday 24 May at the Northern Design Centre, Gateshead and hosted by McDaniel & Co.

It was led by freeman Kelly Hudson, senior associate of McDaniel & Co and a trade mark attorney, and supported by Anti Copying in Design (ACID).

Jonny Westbrooke, CEO of The Furniture Makers’ Company, welcomed guests and gave a brief presentation on the work of the charity.

The seminar  informed delegates on a number of important aspects such as trademarks, copyrights, patents and the handling of confidential information. It focused on protecting elements of design within the industry and gave a full overview of the IP process.

Guests included representatives from Spyndi and Rauch UK, along with members from The Furniture Makers’ Company.
