Hensol Castle Distillery Tour and Tasting

Emma Leeke, chairman of our new Wales Region, is delighted to invite you to thefirst Welsh based event on Thursday 13 February at the grade 1 listed Hensol Castle, just 15 minutes from Cardiff by road, located in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan.

The evening will begin at 6.30pm with a welcome drink in the photogenic 17th century Hensol Castle built by one of Wales’ coal magnates with the distillery tour starting at 7.00pm. During the tour you will explore the history of both the Castle and gin and get a back of house insight into the secrets of the distilling process and how the flavours of the gins are selected and blended.

Once the tour is complete, you will work your way back to the speakeasy gin bar where you will be given a guided tasting of several of the gins and sprits made on site.

The Furniture Makers’ Company has a number of regional groups who meet regularly throughout the year socially with these activities supplementing those run centrally and we would love to set up a Welsh based group.

This event is open to anyone working in the furniture industry with links to Wales along with their guests. Brian Ahern, the Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company and Jonny Westbrooke, Clerk & CEO will be joining us for the evening and will be available to talk to those interested in understanding more about the work and purpose of the company.

For those travelling some distance to join us, limited accommodation is also available in the newly refurbished Hensol Castle – so why not take the opportunity to stay the night in a listed property and spend the morning enjoying the beautiful grounds and lake walks.
