The Furniture Makers’ Company’s South West Committee organised its first fundraising event, a clay pigeon shoot, earlier this month.

Seven teams of 28 shooters embarked on five different challenges at Mendip Shooting School on, Thursday 12th July while the sun shone over Somerset

Team Halstock were victorious, scoring 44, with the runners-up from Artichoke scoring 42. The individual winner was Andrew Pickering who hit 19 out of 25 clays.

The day of shooting was followed by a ploughman’s supper, which was washed down with local cider.

Paul von der Heyde, Past Master and chairman of the South West region, said: “A good day was had by all and we plan to repeat the event next year. Many thanks to our hosts Mendip Shooting School and to John Hampton of Artichoke for sponsoring the cider.”

The Furniture Makers’ Company has five regional committees – the North East, North West, Yorkshire and Central, South West and Southern.

Each committee aims to organise a number of fundraising and networking events in their area for members and non-members of The Furniture Makers Company.
