Applications are being invited for the position of Chair at the Gordon Russell Trust, which oversees the Gordon Russell Design Museum (GRDM).

The museum is undergoing some organisational change in response to economic environment, seeking to diversify income and ensure a sustainable business model for the future. This is an exciting time for the museum, building on its success to date and adapting to new agendas.

GRDM is a specialist museum in Broadway, Worcestershire, commemorating the work of designer furniture maker, Sir Gordon Russell and his company covering the period 1920-2000.

He was a design pioneer – a furniture designer, maker, calligrapher, entrepreneur, educator, and champion of accessible, well crafted design. Schooled in the Arts and Crafts tradition of the Cotswolds he believed that good design has a lasting impact on people’s lives. His great skill was making connections between hand and machine, craft and design, theory and practice, landscape and architecture.

Established in 2008 by Ray Leigh MBE, last chairman of the company, with assistance from Heritage Lottery funding, the museum was formally opened by Sir Terence Conran.

Further details of GRDM can be found on its website.
