A celebration of the life and work of bespoke furniture maker Andrew Varah was held at Furniture Makers’ Hall earlier this month.

Around 90 people attended the evening on Thursday 12 April, which included an exhibition of Andrew’s work and two lecture’s about Andrew from Rupert Senior, Guild Mark chairman and bespoke maker, and Sean Feeney, a bespoke maker and friend of Andrew’s.

Included in the exhibition were four of Andrew’s Infinity Models as well as a number of maquettes, books and photos.

The Infinity Models were derived from an Italian concept first conceived in the Renaissance period. By using special glass, any object placed within the actual model repeats and multiplies hundreds of times.

Andrew’s sister, Felicity Varah Harding, Master of the Spectacle Makers’ Company, as well as other members of the Company, attended the evening as well.

Andrew, who died in July 2012, is an honorary liveryman of The Furniture Makers’ Company and was holder of six Bespoke Guild Marks.
