Employment boost from Blackburn sofa company
A top of the range sofa manufacturer has given Blackburn an employment boost following the opening of its second factory.
The English Sofa Company has employed 17 new members of staff as part of its expansion plans. This includes a production manager and coordinator, sales advisors, accountants, floor manager, frame makers, sewers, wood machinist, frame assembler and an upholsterer.
The company’s exciting future plans include employing many more people as its operation expands. The family-run business is proud to support the local community, with many employees living just a stone’s throw from the factory.
The new premises reaches almost 2000 square metres with further room for expansion, allowing the company to increase the number of quality, handmade sofas, beanbags, footstools, armchairs, sofa beds and much more.
Director of The English Sofa Company, Dave Foster, is buoyant about the potential for further expansion: “The building offers a lot of factory floor space, which will enable us to both store and manufacture products. As we now have the room for lots of different production areas, this will ensure that we can consistently make our products to the highest of standards, as quickly as possible.
“There is plenty of room in the building to accommodate our immediate growth plans, and to allow further expansion in the foreseeable future.”
The original factory, based in Salford, has a showroom for customers to see our quality handcrafted sofas and furniture and is open seven days a week.
The English Sofa Company has a long history in sofa manufacturing, operating since 1951, and has created thousands of handmade, bespoke fabric and leather sofas for many satisfied customers in the UK and exports as far afield as Japan.
Dave Foster said: “With the opening of this new factory, we hope to go from strength to strength – and we eagerly await the journey that lies ahead!”
