Parker Knoll, upholstery manufacturer and Corporate Member of The Furniture Makers, has opened a specially commissioned, 100,000 sq ft. manufacturing facility in Nottinghamshire.

‘Parker Knoll Castlewood’ is a purpose built open plan premises that has been carefully designed to create an ecological and highly effective working space for the business’ 250 employees.

The new facility will be officially opened by Stephen McPartland (Member of Parliament for Stevenage, Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Furniture Group, Liveryman of the Furniture Makers’ Company and the Chairman of Board Directors of the Furniture Ombudsman) on Monday 9 May 2016.

From the sustainable procurement of materials, to water consumption monitoring and the automatic dimming of factory lights throughout the day, Parker Knoll Castlewood has already achieved a high BREEAM rating – the world’s foremost environmental assessment system for buildings.

The new facility will enable Parker Knoll to significantly grow the production of its sofas and chairs from 1,500 to 2,000 a week.
