Anita and Cliff Rust, second and third from left, and their guests at the installation dinner

We were delighted to see that Past Master Cliff Rust has been installed as President of the United Wards’ Club of the City of London. It is the first time that a “Furniture Maker” has been honoured with the role of President.

The installation took place at the Club’s annual general meeting at Clothworkers’ Hall, followed by a dinner attended by members and their guests, with Sheriff Fiona Alder as one of the speakers.

Cliff and his wife Anita have planned a full programme of events for the coming year, including a weekend in Stratford-upon-Avon and a week in Vienna.

There are 25 Wards in the City and all have a Ward club, some covering two Wards.  The clubs exist to support the Alderman and Common Councilmen for that Ward, and to provide a social organisation.  The United Wards’ Club was founded in 1877 and enjoys a strong membership under the patronage of the Lord Mayor.

We congratulate Cliff and wish him a very happy and successful year as President.
