Boss Design Group wins first ever Furniture Makers’ Export Award
We are delighted to announce that international office furniture manufacturer Boss Design Group has won our inaugural Export Award.
The award will be presented to Boss Design at a special Export and Growth event being organised by the British Furniture Confederation at the House of Commons on Tuesday 11 October.
A second presentation of the award will take place at the Furniture Makers’ Royal Charter Dinner at Skinners’ Hall, London on Tuesday 25 October, held annually to celebrate The Furniture Makers’ Company being incorporated by Royal Charter in 2013.
Part of The Furniture Makers’ Company’s Manufacturing Guild Mark, the Export Award was launched in 2016 to recognise excellence in promoting and selling British manufactured furniture, bedding and furnishings to overseas markets.
The award considers all aspects of how a business operates, including development initiatives, overseas’ markets penetrated, volumes, growth, techniques, long term commitment, and relevant accreditations.
Entries were judged by a panel of industry experts, including Ben Burbidge, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company; Paul von der Heyde, Chairman of the Manufacturing Guild Mark; Jonathan Hindle, Chairman of the British Furniture Confederation; Jeremy Stein, Managing Director of the British Contract Furnishing Association; and Stephen McPartland MP, Member of Parliament for Stevenage and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Furniture Industry Group.
Boss Design’s export activities were praised by the expert judging panel for having dramatically improved the company’s performance, growth, competitiveness, customer perception, and staff engagement.
Manufacturing Guild Mark Chairman Paul von der Heyde said: “Boss Design Group has significantly increased export sales throughout Europe, the Middle East and Far East, and the USA, through the investment in manufacturing facilities, manufacturing licensees, and precision geographical targeted marketing.
“With 20% of its employees now allied to international business, and 70% of projected growth emanating from exports, the company is a revered international brand that is committed to long-term international business growth. They are a worthy winner.”
Michael Holmes, Commercial Director at Boss Design Group, said: “We are delighted to receive this award that honours our international achievements. Our determination to make Boss Design a global brand shows no slowdown as demonstrated by our recent investment in manufacturing facilities in North Carolina, USA. We are immensely proud to be flying the flag for British manufacture in export markets, and will continue to make international growth a priority.”
