Barker and Stonehouse raises £8,000 for industry charity
Independent furniture retailer Barker and Stonehouse has raised a huge £8,000 for charity The Furniture Makers’ Company by organising a regional golf competition.
Around 70 people from across the furnishing industry took part in the annual golf day on Wednesday 8 August at the Catterick Garrison Golf Club in North Yorkshire.
The full list of prize winners were:
- Best 1-9 Handicap: Peter Soakell, Barker and Stonehouse
- Best 10-15 Handicap: Paul Olivier, Olivier Furniture
- Best 16-28 Handicap: Simon Stalker, Woodward’s Carpets and Beds
- Best veteran: David Gundry, David Gundry Furniture
- Best team: James Barker, Charles Clinkard, Paul Gundry and Simon Long
- Best gross: Andrew Kent, Mlily Beds
- Best visitor: Charles Clinkard, The Clinkard Group
- Best overall: Peter Harrison, Self-employed French Polisher
James Barker, managing director at Barker and Stonehouse said: “Barker and Stonehouse is proud to support The Furniture Maker’s Company, a charity that provides much needed support for those in the furniture industry. We have been hosting the Barker and Stonehouse annual golf day in aid of this cause since 1999 and this year’s total of £8,000 brings our collective contribution to well over £120,000. My father left me the legacy of raising money for The Furniture Maker’s Company and I’m pleased to continue in his footsteps, donating vital funds to those in need in our industry.”
