Two-time Sustainability Award winner Silentnight Beds is to host the next Best Practice Day, revealing the issues the company faced and steps it has taken to become an environmental champion and sustainable business.

The event, which is being run by Silentnight operations director Rob Livingstone and Peter Holland of Linear Consulting, is taking place at the bed manufacturer’s Barnoldswick head office on 27 March.

The workshop will cover all aspects of how to create an integrated sustainable business, including design/product process, waste, energy, packaging, transport, procurement, end of life and corporate social responsibility.

Peter Holland said: “Sustainability is now integral to gaining competitive advantage in today’s business environment.  In this forward-looking presentation, attending corporate members will discover the challenges and pitfalls to avoid, together with the steps required to ensure sustainability delivers value to your business”

The Best Practice Day is a free event open to all corporate members of The Furniture Makers’ Company as well as Manufacturing Guild Mark holders and is designed to facilitate open innovation and shared learning among businesses.

The biannual event is hosted by a corporate member with each workshop focusing on a particular theme that the hosting company excels in.
