Tor is a range of solid wood stacking chairs designed by David Irwin for Dare Studio. The Tor chairs have a sculpturally refined characteristic and instant touch appeal. Graceful tapering curves adorn each component resulting in a light and beautifully proportioned chair. The components of the TOR chair are all 5 Axis CNC machined and each chair is assembled by hand. Ideal for use in residential and hospitality environments, the stacking function allows the chairs to be stored up to 5 units high.
David Irwin is an industrial designer driven by a curiosity for how and why things are made. For Irwin, design ideas grow from a desire to assign purpose to both traditional and contemporary manufacturing processes.
Originally from Northern Ireland, Irwin was drawn to Northumbria University in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, by its reputation for hands-on teaching and a holistic approach to 3-D design.
