Sail

Glimakra of Sweden collaborated with Studio Webb to create Sail, a multifunctional acoustic screen. Its solid wood mast and base reflect traditional craft techniques, supporting adaptable screens that offer privacy while maintaining visual lightness. Scale was carefully considered to function between two recognised typologies; mobile screens and microarchitecture. Sail defines spaces, balancing visual lightness with a grounded presence; resulting in a flexible mobile screen designed to be reconfigurable and functionally universal. Sustainably sourced solid timber and replaceable screens ensure a long-lasting product, aging gracefully and flexible to the pressures of changing needs. A flatpack construction reduces transportation demands whilst also accommodating repairs and end of life processing.
