This cupboard’s doors and drawers are disguised behind a pattern of horizontal and vertical strips, which also have a crafted handle detail simply integrated to streamline the piece. Bethan says: The pared back simplicity of Noah, using high quality materials and highlighting craftsmanship, resonate particularly with how I love to design. The design itself is associated with longevity and understated luxury. It is predominately made of solid oak with simple, clean lines and a pared back look. Here and there, the oak is combined with a warm grey/mink colour to lighten and soften the range.
Based in London, collaboration is at the heart of Bethan Gray’s creative practice. She has spent two decades developing close relationships with master craftspeople all over the world, and works within equal partnerships based on mutual trust and respect to bring contemporary design and technology together with traditional craft, resulting in furniture and home accessories that give endangered skills new relevance in commercial markets.
