Magnus is a contemporary chair that uses the woodworker’s craft as its visual language. This is expressed in the structure of myriad, interconnecting pieces of wood within the chair’s high back and hexagonal frame. The structure creates a pattern that appears random but is in fact meticulously engineered, celebrating Channels’ skilled workforce and the 20th anniversary of the company.
Born in Hong Kong and educated in Britain, Samuel Chan spent seven years training to be a furniture designer in London, Middlesex and Buckinghamshire Universities. After completing his Masters degree, he worked initially in hotel design. In 1995 Samuel set up Channels a furniture company known for clean, contemporary design and excellent craftsmanship.
