Cornish Bed Company
The Cornish Bed Company is the last remaining hand cast metal bed making foundry in the UK, using traditional Victorian methods of hand pouring knuckle joints and moulds. The company can match any RAL colour for a small additional charge.
Each bed is hand poured using traditional gravity casting and then individually numbered for each customer. Iron beds are powder coated with a robust paint finish in a choice of many colours and brass beds are skilfully antiqued and then lacquered by hand with a matt lacquer to ensure a long-lasting finish.
The key component in Cornish Bed Company furniture is the Victorian cast knuckle joint which joins the head and foot sections of the bed or bench. The two parts of the joint slot together and are then tapped in place with a hammer, this secures the furniture without the need for any screws or bolts and is guaranteed to last a lifetime. Each knuckle joint is hand poured using traditional gravity casting and then individually numbered for each customer. This applies to the entire product range which includes traditional iron, brass and nickel beds, day beds, four posters, headboards and dog beds.
