Master’s Outing to Portsmouth
After an informal dinner on the night of Thursday 10 September, guests will enjoy a full day visiting whichever parts of the Historic Naval Docks interest you; followed by a spectacular dinner in the Mary Rose Museum, including guided tours of the museum or an optional special deckside tour.
On Saturday 12 September we’ll enjoy a day at the fantastic arts & crafts college at West Dean, with tours of the historic house, a look at some selected archives, a visit to the furniture department (along with a chance to try your hand at something a little practical!); and, after a light lunch, a guided walk around the wonderful gardens. Even if you’ve been here before (and I know, like me, many of you haven’t) hopefully there will be plenty of new elements for you to enjoy.
The day will conclude with a black-tie dinner in the evening at our hotel, including some maritime tall tales and musical entertainment!
And on Sunday, six of us will be descending the Spinnaker Tower!
There are also guided walking tours of Portsmouth on either the Thursday afternoon or Sunday morning (please indicate which you would prefer on the form; and if either will do, please provide that information too as numbers for each are limited to 25).
The price for this package will vary slightly depending on how many come – from £450-500 pp inc VAT– plus your travel and accommodation – at the very central Royal Maritime Hotel, which will be our base for the weekend. (Other hotels in Portsmouth are available.)
Numbers are limited to a maximum of 50 so don’t delay in letting us know if you want to join me.
