We hope you will join us for a very special trip to Knole House on Friday 13 September.

Originally an archbishop’s palace, the house passed through royal hands to the Sackville family – Knole’s inhabitants from 1603 to today. Now owned by the National Trust, the house is set in a vast estate and contains many paintings, tapestries and pieces of furniture.

Extensive conservation work has taken place at Knole and those members who attended our last visit there in 2017 will be interested to see the progress made on the restoration project.  Our day will start with a guided tour of the house by the curator, Eleanor Black, who will talk about the conservation work that has taken place and the future programme of work planned.

After the tour you will be able to visit Lord Sackville’s private garden, which is only open to the public at certain times of the year, visit the house again or areas not included on the tour, as well as the conservation studio.

We will meet up for lunch in the Brewhouse Café (on a buy your own basis) leaving the rest of the afternoon to have another look around the house and gardens before departing at your leisure.

Further information about Knole can be seen here.  National Trust members will pay a reduced rate for the day.

Places on the visit are limited to Liverymen only plus one guest each in the first instance, so please reply quickly to secure your places!
