Description

The design is a blend of precision engineering and minimal design. The concept for the rotating stool came about after seeing the neat stainless steel rectangular section tube. We realized that it would work really well structurally and aesthetically as the legs for a stool. We then set about designing a simple bearing based on PTFE discs. A leather covered seat pad makes a beautiful contrast to the brushed stainless steel.

About

Terence Woodgate initially trained as a design engineer, however, fascination with purer forms of design led to a decision in the mid-80s to retrain as a furniture designer at the London Guildhall University. Attracted to the conceptual as well as the hands-on aspect of designing furniture, Woodgate opened his first studio in London in 1988 and began to build his reputation as a thoughtful designer of both style and practical innovation. John Barnard is one of the most innovative racing car design engineers of his generation. He gained a diploma from Watford College of Technology in the 1960s and unlike many of his contemporaries he did not follow a lengthy academic career, instead choosing to join General Electric Company plc. He pioneered and built the world’s first carbon fibre monocoque, winning three consecutive Formula One world championships for McLaren.
