The design draws key inspiration from the traditional architecture and woodworking native to the Hida-Takayama region in central Japan; an area heavily influenced by cultures of Kyoto and Tokyo in the Edo period (1603-1868), a significant time of peace and prosperity in Japan that prompted an increase in artistic, cultural and social development. This compact workstation has been designed to cater to the demands of the technology-equipped modern home office in an elegant and ordered fashion. The cable management system provides room for international plugs and the optional screen riser allows users to maximize the surface space available. The task chair features a scientifically designed ergonomic molded seat that provides support over long periods of use though its form, construction and the materials used. It offers an aesthetic that is equally at home at the workstation as the dining table. The design reflects traditional Japanese building design whilst meeting the need to incorporate modern technologies in to today’s work and social lifestyles.
