By Joanna Knight, East of England chairman

Our East of England Group hosted its inaugural meeting at TMJ Interiors in the charming village of Bildeston, Suffolk.

The event included a welcome by the Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, David Woodward as well as a presentation by James Williamson, representing the New Anglia LEP (Local Enterprise Partnership), NAAME, and the Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor. James provided an overview of the funding available through the LEP together with the further collaboration and business development opportunities through each of the organisations.

The afternoon also included a tour of the impressive facilities at TMJ Interiors led by operations director, Jasper Heinrich, who is also a liveryman.

The East of England Group has been formed to provide opportunities for knowledge sharing, networking and collaboration between the furniture and furnishing sector within the region. As part of The Furniture Makers’ Company, the group has already hosted two fundraising events and provides support to champion education and training.

Colleagues working or living within the furniture, furnishings and floor coverings industry within the region (Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire) are welcome to join.
