Roy Bluett, former president of the High Wycombe branch of the Furnishing Trades Benevolent Association (FTBA), sadly passed away on Monday 19 July.

At the time, the High Wycombe branch of the FTBA was the largest in the country and Roy along with his wife, Pauline, who was chair of the ladies committee, organised many events and raised a substantial amount of money

Roy joined the fledgling textile division of Parker Knoll in 1954 and carried out several roles within the business as both the Parkertex and G.P.&J.Baker brands became the industry leaders. 

He enjoyed his time as a sales representative and in particular his dealings with the furniture manufacturers. Eventually managing the sales and service side of the business before retiring in 1990.

He is survived in the industry by his son, John, who is a sales representative for The Isle Mill fabric company and son-in-law, freeman Mark Wilkins of Wilkins Agencies.

A service of thanksgiving for his life was held on Friday 30 July 2021 at Chilterns Crematorium Milton Chapel.
