Kin is a true family. The monoshell tub, arm, side and stool shells are available with a range of interchangeable bases that sit confidently alone or comfortably together. While many designers might begin with a single chair design and engineer an aesthetic resemblance into companion pieces and variants, Pearson Lloyd in collaboration with Allermuir set out to design a complete family of chairs simultaneously, ensuring a unified identity from the outset. Development of Kin took two years with significant investment in tooling and comprehensive prototyping.
Pearson Lloyd is a design office based in East London. Founded in 1997 and led by Luke Pearson and Tom Lloyd, the studio works with manufacturers, brands and public bodies to identify and build products, spaces and services that respond to the challenges of the day and enhance our experience of the world.
