Sheriffs visit Furniture Makers’ Hall on horseback tour of City
Immediate Past Master Hayden Davies and Clerk Jonny Westbrooke welcomed some special guests at Furniture Makers’ Hall earlier this month as two City of London sheriffs arrived on horseback accompanied by members of the Honourable Artillery Company’s Light Calvary.
The visit, which took place on 10 July, was part of a fundraising event organised by Sheriff Liz Green and Alderman and Sheriff Vincent Keaveny, which saw them ride and visit a number of livery halls around the City.
The guests arrived just after 10.00am and were warmly greeted by The Furniture Makers’ Company team and offered a stirrup cup before departing for the next hall.
The stunt raised money for the Sheriffs’ & Recorder’s Fund which works to help ex-offenders and their families and makes over 1200 grants annually.
Sheriff Liz Green said: “Our ride took us round as many livery halls as we could manage, and we were warmly welcomed in each one, with carrots and apples in some for the horses.”
