Lord Mayor’s Election 2018
We were delighted that Alderman Peter Estlin, Master International Banker, was elected the 691st. Lord Mayor of the City of London for the year 2018/19 at a traditional Common Hall ceremony held at Guildhall on October 1, being the first Monday after Michaelmas.
Liverymen of the Furniture Makers attending were proud to see their own Master, Hayden Davies, join the Masters, Prime Wardens and Upper Bailiff of the Livery Companies in a colourful procession to St Lawrence Jewry church, then return to Guildhall together with the Lord Mayor, Sheriffs, Aldermen and City Officers.
During the traditional resolutions and speeches of this occasion all were keen to emphasize the important role of the City in the uncertain economic climate and the continuing stability of the Livery movement in its charitable and business endeavors
Following the election proceedings Furniture Makers returned to Furniture Makers’ Hall for a convivial lunch prepared by our new caterers and an inpromptu wine tasting offered by Past Master Roger Richardson.
Following lunch a number of those present attended a private viewing of the Evolution of Tradition exhibition at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.
All Liverymen of the Furniture Makers are encouraged to attend these occasions to understand the wide variety and purpose of the Company’s civic activities, and to enjoy the fellowship of their Company.
