Corporate member and Manufacturing Guild Mark (MGM) holder Harrison Spinks has been awarded Large Bed Manufacturer of the Year (over £10 million) at the Bed Awards.

The company was awarded the prize at the National Bed Federation’s (NBF) Bed Show Gala Dinner on 18 September.

Harrison Spinks was praised for innovation within its production process. Last year saw it begin to weave its own cloth, cut timber from the company’s own forests as well as spinning its own wire for springs.

The ceremony was attended by 500 guests from across the industry, including Master Hayden Davies.

Fellow corporate member and MGM holder Hypnos were runners-up in the same category, with the business being recognised for its significant overseas growth as well as an outreach programme in schools and the Armed Forces.

Other winners at the ceremony included Millbrook for Bed Manufacturer of the Year (under £10m turnover); Maes Mattress Tickings for Bed Component Supplier of the Year; Dreams for Large Bed Retailer of the Year; Argos for Large Online Bed Retailer; Arighi Bianchi for Small Bed Retailer of the Year and Otty Sleep for Small Online Bed Retailer of the Year.

The winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges including Richard De Melim (Furnishing Report), Roy Beagent (Minerva), Peter Mallinson (AIS), Bernard Eaton (Greenwood Retail) and Jessica Alexander, executive director of the NBF.
