Meet the makers exhibiting at Evolution of Tradition: Alun Heslop
Evolution of Tradition, a new exhibition of contemporary bespoke furniture designed by some of the UK’s most distinguished craftspeople, takes place from 2 until 5 October this autumn at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.
The exhibition represents an exciting collaboration between The Furniture Makers’ Company and Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, the world’s premier design destination.
Fifteen makers, including Alun Heslop, are exhibiting 28 pieces at the exhibition.
A designer and creator of exceptional sculptural furniture and installations, Alun Heslop primarily specialises in chairs and seating from the Chaircreative studio and workshop.
Alun has produced outstanding work for both public spaces and private clients: exterior seating installations for The Royal Horticultural Society, Royal Botanic Gardens and the North Downs Way national trail; interior design projects for residential spaces naming just a few exquisite examples and commercial projects, such as the design and creation of shop and office space for Hancocks the jewellers, Burlington Arcade, W1 London.
Notable recent acquisitions and commissions include: the ‘Insictor’ bench, acquired by Veuve Cliquot for their collection and VIP cellars tours; Hammerhead RVS, the stunning mirror polished cast stainless steel chair for Dutch Financial enterprise company WVGH; and the award-winning privately commissioned 8.5m sinuous curving ‘Sleeping Dragon’ bench, Bedfordshire.
