Design Insider produces documentary about plastic usage

Design Insider have produced a brand new documentary to highlight the devastating impact that plastic is having on our oceans. The BBC’s Blue Planet II bought the effects of our current relationship with plastic to the forefront of all our minds. The Government have taken notice and have launched a 25-year environment plan, and having already put a 5p charge on all plastic carrier bags. They hope to go further with their next iniative to reduce the use of plastic straws.

As part of their MATERIALS series Design Insider wanted to investigate this subject further with material expert Jim Biddulph looking at how design can combat the plastic problem.

Their aim was to get a better understanding of how the industry could change and make a positive difference, to do this they interviewed a mix of established brands and young designers, so they could take a realistic approach to reduce plastic usage and save the planet from further environmental damage.
