A short film about the commissioning of a striking table made from 5,000 year old ‘Bog Oak’ and fossiliferous English marbles has been produced.

The table was designed and made by master craftsman Rupert Senior, who completed the significant commission for Knole, the Tudor palace at Sevenoaks, Kent.

The 6m long dining table has been designed as three separate tables, allowing a variety of seating configurations, and can seat up to 20 people.

This bold modern table has been built for the ‘Poets’ Parlour’ – the family dining room for over 400 years and part of the private apartments.

The film, which is around 10-minutes long, gives an insight into the designer’s approach and the meticulous craftsmanship.

In addition to being a liveryman and court assistant at The Furniture Makers’ Company, Rupert is Guild Marks Chairman and sits on the Bespoke, Design and Manufacturing Guild Mark committees.
