Support our 2016 Royal Charter Appeal
The Furniture Makers’ Company, the furnishing industry’s charity, is looking for companies and individuals to help raise £24,000 as part of its 2016 Royal Charter Appeal to support its education programme.
Every year the Company holds a Royal Charter Dinner and charity appeal to commemorate it being issued with a Royal Charter by Her Majesty The Queen in 2013.
To celebrate this momentous achievement, all of the Company’s members are invited to come and celebrate at a black tie dinner at Skinners’ Hall in London on 25 October 2016.
The event itself remains a pure celebration and Furniture Makers’ individual and Corporate Members are encouraged to bring along guests for what is sure to be a very special evening.
Last year the Royal Charter Appeal raised £20,000, thanks to kind donations from individuals and companies including B&Q, Blue Crush Communications, Community Playthings, Ercol, Furniture Village, IKBBI, KI, NICEIC, Panaz and Parker Knoll.
In order to meet this need, The Furniture Makers’ Company created a new giving circle of Education Champions in 2015 to implement Royal Charter Scholarships for furniture students wishing to undertake study. In 2016 the Company plans on repeating this, so they can support more students.
Ben Burbidge, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “The Furniture Makers’ Company encourages talent with its extensive education programme, working with school children, students and young professionals across a range of industry activities. The cost of higher education continues to rise, which is why scholarships are needed more than ever. A scholarship can make a huge difference to the recipient and in many cases enables a student, who otherwise would not have the chance, to continue their education.”
