The London to Bordeaux cyclists have been pedalling to France in style this week in our own custom Furniture Makers jersey, thanks to the generosity of companies from across the furnishing industry.

The companies that have sponsored the team cycling jersey are Axminster Tools & Machinery, B&Q, Blum, the British Furniture Manufacturers Association, Burbidge Kitchens, CD UK, Cabinet Maker, Celtheath Contract Furniture, Designer Contracts, Ercol, Furniture Village, KI, Knoll, Lectra, Rotadex, Silentnight and Tangent Furniture.

We asked the companies why they are supporting the event. Here are some of their  responses:

Mark Richardson, managing director at Blum, said: ” I’d like to wish all those taking part a trouble-free, fun-filled and memory-making journey. I am just sorry that  Blum are only sponsors and not participants. This ride is in aid of a truly worthy cause and I’d urge anyone who hasn’t yet done so to make a contribution – every single Pound gets us a step nearer to smashing the target! ”

Jackie Bazeley, managing director at the BFM, said: “The British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM) is delighted to be a sponsor of the Furniture Makers’ London to Bordeaux cycle ride. We wish them the very best of British!”

David Woodward, director at Celtheath Contract Furniture, said: “We decided to support the bike ride not just for the cause but for the courage , determination and dedication of every member of the team, amazing stuff. We are watching progress and looking forward to cheering them in Bordeaux. We urge everyone to dig deep and donate supporting the furniture makers heroes on their arduous journey. Well done you all.”

Gary Baker, managing director of CDUK, said: “CDUK wishes all the cyclists well on what is an incredibly difficult challenge in aid of an extremely worthy cause – our industry’s very own charity.  As a corporate member of the Furniture Maker’s Company we wanted to lend our support to the people putting their bodies through hell and back to raise money!”

We’d like to extend a big thank you to all of the sponsoring companies.
