Young Furniture Maker Connor Holland was named Student Designer of the Year at the Mixology16 awards event last week (Thursday 23 June).

Connor, who is a student at Kingston University and a member of the Young Furniture Makers, was awarded the  prize for his Lilo bench. The award is sponsored through The Furniture Makers’ Company thanks to a generous donation from Corporate Member KI Europe.

More than 1000 people attended the dinner and awards evening at Old Billingsgate, London, which is organised by Mix Interiors magazine.

This isn’t the first prize Connor has received for his Lilo bench, which is made using an innovative manufacturing process called hydroforming. Last year he won The Young Furniture Makers Bespoke Award.

Connor said: “Winning ‘Student Designer of the Year’ is an honour, which will be invaluable in helping to promote my work to a wide audience and potential clients. I am very grateful to The Furniture Makers’ Company for supporting me at the beginning of my career, and providing the opportunity to be part of such a prestigious event within the design community.”
