Tony Brown being presented with his Lifetime Achievement award by the Lord Mayor of London and Master Ben Burbidge

Chairman of office furniture manufacturer Bisley, Tony Brown OBE, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement award at the Installation Dinner on 9 May 2016.

Bisley was founded in Surrey by Tony’s father, Freddy, in 1931.

After the war Bisley began making office products and Tony joined the firm in 1960, at which time it had 28 staff.

He bought the company out in 1970 and launched the iconic steel filing cabinet in 1980.

The company has received numerous accolades including two Queen’s Awards for Export Achievement and a Manufacturing Guild Mark from The Furniture Makers’ Company in 2015.

It is still a private company, employing around 700 people and achieves sales of over £70m, half of which come from exports.

Tony has helped the local community in Wales by becoming a benefactor and latterly owner of Newport Gwent Dragons Rugby Club and funded a new stand for the club in 2012.
